Slippers
These straw slippers are handwoven from natural cattail, with some styles in bulrush or willow. The weave lets air through, so they work as house shoes, spa slippers and sauna slippers for women and men. Cattail absorbs moisture and holds warmth, so many styles are worn indoors in summer and winter. Styles include closed toe, mesh toe, open toe, tassel and men's slip-on designs.
To pick a size, measure your bare foot from heel to toe. Most listings are sized by inside slipper length, and each size fits a foot about 0.5 to 1 cm shorter. For example, a 25 cm slipper fits a foot of about 24 to 24.5 cm. Some listings use US sizes and give the foot length for each one: US 5 fits a 22 cm foot and US 10 fits a 26 cm foot. If you have wide feet, are between sizes or wear socks, choose the next size up. Each pair is handwoven, so length can vary by about 0.5 cm. Our straw slipper size guide has the full tables.
The closed-toe tassel styles fit snugly; their product pages note that they are not recommended for feet with bunions or hammertoes. One cattail style is also sold in bundles of 2 to 12 pairs, for guest rooms or a whole family.
Straw slippers are made for indoor use. Keep them away from water and rain, wipe them with a dry cloth, and let them dry in a ventilated place if they get damp.
