Sun Hats

Our sun hats are handmade from natural straw: raffia, reed, paper straw and treasured grass. The collection includes a wide brim reed sun hat, open-top sun visors, raffia baseball and newsboy caps, and a hand-dyed jazz fedora. Straw is light and breathable, so these hats suit beach days, golf, tennis, gardening and summer travel.

To choose, think about how much shade you want and how the hat should fit. A wide brim hat shades the face. A visor keeps the top open for a ponytail or bun. A cap keeps the brim to the front, and a fedora has a narrower brim and a classic shape.

Check the fit on each listing. Several styles fit a head circumference of about 57 cm, and the fedora is about 56.5 cm. Visors use an elastic strap, a flexible headband or a hook-and-loop closure; the adjustable raffia visor fits about 54 to 62 cm. The raffia baseball cap has an adjustable strap with a metal buckle and an inner sweatband. Where a listing gives brim width or crown height, compare it with a hat you already own.

The wide brim straw visors are non-foldable, and the fedora should not be folded or crushed. The paper straw visor is different: it folds for luggage. Keep straw hats dry, store them flat or on a stand, and do not crush the brim. Wipe them gently with a dry cloth, or a slightly damp cloth where the listing allows it, and never submerge them in water.

FAQ

Will the hat fit my head?
Measure around your head just above the ears and compare it with the head circumference on the listing. Several styles fit about 57 cm, and some visors list an adjustable range, such as 54 to 62 cm.

Can I fold a straw hat for travel?
Only the paper straw visor is made to fold for travel. The wide brim visors are non-foldable and the fedora should not be folded, so pack these flat.

What if my hat gets wet?
Do not submerge it. Wipe it with a dry cloth and let it dry in a ventilated place.
